ثالثا : المعلومات والبيانات:
البيانات:
- هي حقائق وأرقام الخام التي يتم معالجتها لإنتاج معلومات.
- حقائق مجردة ليست ذات معنى أو دلالة في ذاتها بمعنى أنها لو تركت على حالها فلن تضيف شيء إلى معرفة مستخدميها بما يؤثر على سلوكهم في اتخاذ القرارات.
- مجموعة من الأعداد أو الحروف أو الرموز التي تقوم بتمثيل الحقائق والمفاهيم بشكل ملائم عن أحداث وقعت داخل نظام معين أو نتيجة لتعامل النظام مع أطراف أخرى خارج النظام يمكن ترجمتها ومعالجتها من قبل الانسان أو الأجهزة للتحول الى نتائج ( معلومات).
- حقائق تجمع وتسجل وتخزن وتعالج من خلال نظام معلومات IS والتي تعتبر مواد خام وقد تكون على شكل (رموز صوتية – شكلية - ...... )

- البيانات التي يتم تجهيزها وهي مجدية ومفيدة للمستخدمين.
- البيانات التي تم تشغيلها ومعالجتها بشكل ملائم لتعطي معنى كامل يمكن من استخدامها كنتائج ذات معنى مفيد لمتخذي القرارات سواء كانت قرارات جارية أو مستقبلية.
